Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ to launch in India on March 6

Samsung will be launching the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ smartphones in India on March 6 at an event in New Delhi. The company has started sending out invitations to the media for the same. The Galaxy S9 and S9+ are already up for pre-ordering on Samsung's website. Both devices are available in a choice of 64GB or 256GB in either Lilac Purple, Midnight Black or Coral Blue. Samsung is currently accepting INR 2000 as booking amount and the rest will have to be paid when the devices launch next week.

Samsung Galaxy On7 Prime launching in India on January 17

Samsung will announce the Galaxy On7 Prime in India on Wednesday, January 17. The phone will be available exclusively on Amazon India. The Galaxy On7 Prime is not a new phone but a phone that has been around since 2016 that Samsung loves to rebrand and resell every few months. Initially launched as Galaxy On Nxt and later on called Galaxy J7 Prime, the different variants of this phone are exclusive to different stores but it's really the same wine in the same damn bottle.

vivo announces the launch of its E-store in India

vivo announced the arrival of its E-store in India, enabling purchases of smartphones from anywhere in the country. Early shoppers can join the “Launch Carnival” promos which include offers, discounts and a draw. The “Launch Carnival” is happening between January 16 and January 18. During that period, vivo is offering discount coupons up to INR2,000 on selected smartphones, 12-month zero-cost EMI, and one-time screen replacement for vivo V7 or vivo V7+.

Samsung Galaxy A8 and A8+ 2018 to allegedly go on sale in India on January 10

According to a report by PhoneRadar, the new 2018 Samsung Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A8+ are set to be launched in India on Wednesday, January 10. As of yet, Samsung India has not confirmed any availability or pricing information regarding these two devices, nor have we seen any teasers from any of the online retailers. The 2018 Galaxy A8 and A8+ are the latest in Samsung's range of premium mid-range devices. Slotted just below the Galaxy S series, the A-series devices give their customers some of the premium materials and performance of the more expensive segment without costing a fortune.

Red Xiaomi Mi A1 arrives in India

Back in October, the Xiaomi Mi 5X arrived in fresh new red paintjob. The global version of the phone, Xiaomi Mi A1, needed more than a month to follow suit - last week it reached Indonesia and now it comes to India. The Red Xiaomi Mi A1 will cost INR12,999 ($202) and will arrive on December 20 at a Mi Fan Sale. The phone is discounted from its official price of INR13,999 that recently got a permanent cut of about $15.

LG V30+ goes on sale in India

As scheduled, the LG V30+ has been launched in India. It is now available to purchase exclusively from Amazon, which has the device listed for INR 44,900 ($700). Color options include silver and black. Specs-wise, the V30+ differs from the standard V30 in terms of storage - it comes with 128GB storage, compared to the vanilla model. Right on schedule, LG has finally unveiled the V30+ smartphone for India today. This is the version of the company's latest flagship smartphone that comes with 128GB of built-in storage, double the space of the 'vanilla' V30. It's certainly taken its sweet time to get to the subcontinent, considering that it was initially announced in August and released in some markets in September.

Google launches Google Go in India and Indonesia

Google has launched Google Go, a streamlined version of the Google Search app designed primarily for Android Go Edition devices. The app has currently released only in India and Indonesia. Google Go is designed to make searching simpler and easier for those on slow connections or new to the internet. Opening the app shows you options to search, do a voice search, search for images, search for GIFs, videos, translation and more.

Xiaomi launches Redmi 5A in India, sales start December 7

Right on schedule, Xiaomi has announced the Redmi 5A in India. The phone starts selling on December 7 at a price of INR 5,999 for the 2GB/16GB model (first 5 million units will sell at a INR 1,000 discount - INR 4,999) and the 3GB/32GB variant will retail for 6,999. Both models come in either Grey or Gold. The Xiaomi Redmi 5A was marketed as the Desh ka Smartphone - meaning the country's smartphone - and is Made in India. YouTube Go no longer in beta, available in India and Indonesia

YouTube Go is Google’s way of ensuring that even those who can’t access a mobile data connection as freely as others in more developed parts of the world can watch YouTube more freely. Google’s first initiative was to offer the ability to download videos for offline viewing later on the YouTube App. You can do this in other regions, however, a YouTube RED subscription is required. YouTube Go is a lightweight version of the YouTube App whose Beta launched back in April of this year for India. The app is no longer in Beta and has a stable and public release on the Play Store in India and Indonesia.

Xiaomi starts trade-in program in India

Xiaomi phones already offer great value for money but Mi Home stores in India can improve that. The company is running a trade-in program in partnership with Cashify that will reduce the price of available Mi and Redmi phones. You simply walk into a Mi Home with your old device. The team will tell you its resale value (based on the phone’s condition) and you can use that money towards the purchase of a shiny new handset. Xiaomi opens third manufacturing facility in India dedicated to accessories

Xiaomi has announced a new manufacturing plant in India. This facility is located in Noida, Uttar Pradesh and made in partnership with Hipad Technology. This is the third manufacturing facility started by Xiaomi since it started doing business in India in 2014. This new manufacturing facility is dedicated entirely to manufacturing power bank. Spread across 230,000 square feet, the facility is able to manufacture 7 power banks per minute during its operational hours.

Nokia 2 pre-orders are now live

The Nokia 2 was made official by HMD Global earlier this week at an event in India. And now, pre-orders for the entry-level device have gone live. Specifically, Russia has become the first country where the phone can be pre-ordered. As for price, the handset costs RUB 7,990, which currently translates into around €117. This, if you compare, is a tad higher than the €99 tag HMD officially revealed for the phone when it was unveiled. Official release time frame for the Nokia 2 is mid November. Nokia 2 announced with 5-inch display, 4,100mAh battery

As expected, HMD has officially announced the entry-level Nokia 2 smartphone. The device comes with a 5-inch HD display, and is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 212 SoC. The handset features an 8MP main camera, and a 5MP front shooter. A large 4,100mAh battery should provide outstanding battery life, given the modest chipset and screen. HMD officially quotes 2-day battery life if you use the phone for 5 hours per day.

Xiaomi to announce new phone series in India on November 2

Xiaomi India started sending out press invites for an event on November 2. The company plans to introduce yet another smartphone series after the Mi A1 arrival, followed by the Mi Mix 2. The invitation simply says #YourBestSelfie, although another image was seen with the "A new series is coming. Join Manu and Jai on 02.11.2017" slogan. We also get a lightning logo, suggesting the phone might have a fast charge and a good front camera, obviously.

Apple India now provides international warranty on iPhones

Apple has quietly introduced international warranty on the iPhone in India, according to our sources. This means the company will honor the warranty even if the iPhone was purchased outside of India. It must be noted that this only applies to the factory unlocked versions of the iPhones and carrier-locked models do not get warranty, even if the user manages to unlock them somehow. Apple has had international warranty on most of its products but that list has always excluded the iPhone. This will be the first time Apple has decided to honor warranty outside of the region the device was purchased of, even if the user does not have Apple Care.

HMD considers a 4G Nokia featurephone for India

HMD will not bring the 3G Nokia 3310 (2017) to India, saying that the local market lacks interest in 3G phones. Yet, in an interview Ajey Mehta, Vice President of HMD Global for India divulged that HMD is considering making a 4G featurephone. He referenced Reliance Jio's JioPhone, an affordable 4G featurephone that's making an impact on the market. The Finnish maker is one of the few remaining to do featurephones so it might have a go at the ultra-affordable market in the subcontinent if interest translates to actual sales. Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 coming to India on October 10

Xiaomi will be launching the new Mi MIX 2 smartphone in India on October 10, 2017. The company sent out invitations to the Indian media for the event today. The Mi MIX 2 was announced last month as a successor to last year’s Mi MIX that started the bezel-less design revolution. The new Mi MIX 2 improves upon almost every aspect of the original but is much smaller and more manageable.

Amazon Echo series launched in India, available by invitation

Amazon has launched the Echo series of devices in India. This includes the Echo, Echo, Plus and Echo Dot. The Echo Dot is priced at INR 4499 ($69), the Echo at INR 9999 ($153) and the Echo Plus at INR 14,999 ($230). The Echo and Echo Plus are the new updated models that were launched in the US last month.
