BlackBerry Priv Review - One Week Later by Beau Hamilton

Image
Beau HD shares his thoughts of the BlackBerry Priv after using the device for one week. It's clear that BlackBerry has put a lot of time and effort into the creation of the Priv, as its success or failure will heavily impact BlackBerry, a company whose market share continues to dwindle. Some of the specs of the Priv include a 5.4-inch Quad HD AMOLED display, Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor with 3GB of RAM, 18MP camera sensor, 3410mAh battery and Android 5.1 Lollipop. For nearly $700 off-contract, how do you think the BlackBerry Priv compares to the other flagship smartphones on the market? The Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 will also have a Windows 10 version

Image
Xiaomi unveiled a couple of interesting devices today - the Redmi Note 3 handset and Mi Pad 2 tablet. Both Android gadgets come with impressive specs sheets for their price points and cool design. And if that wasn't enough, it seems Xiaomi intends to make the most out of the impressive Pad 2 hardware by offering it in a Windows 10 version as well. The cutting-edge 14nm Intel Atom X5-Z8500 64-bit processor is more than capable of handling Microsoft's latest OS with all its bells and whistles and has the proper x86 architecture to run a conventional PC OS, so it was a matter of time before the modding community took advantage of the hardware anyway. But, providing the option on an OEM level is definitely a better deal for end users, as they can expect proper drivers and optimization. Plus, with a screen size of 7.9 inches, the Mi Pad 2 still qualifies for a free Windows 10 license. The OS might be free, but Xiaomi development and support is still costly f

Original Microsoft Band drops to £50 in the UK

Image
Microsoft keeps slashing the price of the original Band in the UK, the latest drop brings it to £50. You also get an extra charging cable that's normally worth £17. The Microsoft Band features a 1.4" TFT, a continuous heart rate monitor, GPS and UV monitor, plus enough sensors to track your golf swing, running, biking and so on. It works with Windows Phone, but is not platform-snobbish and supports Google's Android and Apple's iOS. Again, this is the old band, the Microsoft Band 2 is £200. You get a better screen (a comfy curved AMOLED) with a more durable glass, an extra sensor (barometer). It can also estimate VO2 Max. [Lightning Deal Alert] 32GB Nexus 6 $199.99, 64GB $259.99 On Amazon Lightning Deal, Live NOW! GOGOGO!!!

Image
Just a couple of months ago the Motorola Nexus 6 64GB was $370 in the US – a sweet deal for a phone with a 6" QHD AMOLED. Amazon's Black Friday deal just blew it out of the water – the 32GB model is $200 and the 64GB one is $260. That's much cheaper than the current crop of Nexus phones, the Nexus 6P 64GB is $550. Sure, the Moto Nexus has only a metal frame instead of a unibody and the chipset is older, but its screen is bigger, the camera has OIS and you get basic water resistance to boot. Luckily, this isn't one of Amazon's lightning deals and you have about 15 hours left to think about it. Just a fair warning: don't look at the Amazon UK or DE sites looking for a similar deal on the Nexus 6. There's only disappointment and heartbreak there.
