London's first driverless cars will be these airport-style pods

Image
If you hadn't noticed, the autonomous motoring revolution is almost upon us, and the first self-driving cars to arrive on the streets of London are going to be based on the shuttle pods currently in use at Heathrow Airport. The adapted vehicles will be involved in limited trials in Bristol, Coventry and Milton Keynes as well as Greenwich in south-east London. Unlike the ones at Heathrow Airport, they'll be free from tracks - although a steward is going to be on board at all times to stop the pods in an emergency.

Iran's Rouhani says up to U.S. to improve relations with Tehran

Image
The United States cannot solve any problems in the Middle East without Iran's help and should drop its "hostile" stance toward Tehran, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Wednesday.   Iran President Hassan Rouhani attends a news conference in Rome, Italy, January 27, 2016. REUTERS/Alessandro … On his first official visit to Europe, Rouhani also took a swipe at regional arch rival Saudi Arabia, saying its military campaign in neighboring Yemen was a failure and a frustration. Rouhani is midway through a four-day trip to Italy and France, looking to burnish his country's international credentials following the signing last year of a nuclear accord with world powers and the lifting of financial sanctions.

Nexus 5X price drops again, this time to $300

Image
If you’re in the market for a new smartphone, and you want a pure Android experience on Marshmallow without breaking the bank, then we’ve got some seriously good news for you. Google just slashed the price of the 16GB Nexus 5X to $299.00 and $349.00 for the 32GB version. This is an interesting development, because just two weeks ago, Google trimmed $30 off the mid-range Nexus device to bring its price down to $350. Now we’re seeing an even bigger chunk lopped off. For a device running a Snapdragon 808 with 2GB of RAM and a 5.2 inch display, you’re getting a lot of tech-per-dollar here. For its default price, the Nexus 5X is now going for less than it did even on Black Friday. Technically, there’s still a way to get the smartphone for even cheaper. Right now, BuyDig is running a limited-quantity offer that puts a 16GB version of this device in your hands for $299.99, but they’ll also send you a $20 pre-paid Visa card to boot. When the Nexus 5X originally launched, we

The device will be available exclusively through Amazon India starting at 2 PM local time, making it the second Lenovo device to be launched in the sub-continent after the Lenovo K4 Note earlier this month. The Vibe X3 also packs a fingerprint scanner, 21 MP primary camera with a Sony IMX230 sensor, PDAF, LED flash, f/2.0 aperture and support for 4K video. Up front there’s a beefy 8 MP selfie camera and the whole thing is powered by a solid 3,500 mAh battery, making the Vibe X3 a force to be reckoned with. Running Lenovo’s Vibe UI on top of Android 5.1 Lollipop, the Vibe X3 is

A quick way to free up iPhone memory: With this move, you can revive a sluggish iOS device without resetting or restarting it.

Image
iPhone acting sluggish or strange? When my iPhone feels like it's a step slow, a poor network connection is usually to blame. And in instances where a weak signal isn't the culprit, I usually power down my iPhone, give it a minute to catch its breath, and then power it back on. That maneuver usually does the trick, but I just discovered a quicker way to get my iPhone back on track. When your Wi-Fi is rock-solid or your cellular connection is strong and your iPhone is still slow to respond, there is a quick procedure you can perform that flushes your iPhone's memory. I tried it on both my iPhone and iPad and found that while it doesn't completely or even dramatically free up memory resources, it did reduce each device's memory usage somewhat. To free up some memory, unlock your phone and then hold down the power button until the "slide to power off" screen appears. Next, instead of sliding to power off or tapping the cancel button, press a

Starting today, the OnePlus X goes invite-free for good worldwide

Image
One by one, the three affordable flagships initially sold through a controversial invitation-based system by Chinese smartphone startup OnePlus have ditched restrictions, catches and long waiting periods in the past months. First, OnePlus One production was ramped up (or demand finally dwindled), so the “original flagship killer” opened online orders for all a full year after its commercial launch. Then, OnePlus 2’s turn to extend a hand to impatient prospective buyers came, approximately four months on the heels of the Snapdragon 810 beast’s debut.
