Asus outs two new Zenpad 10 tablets too

Image
Like every year, Asus is very busy these days with Computex, because the trade show is its biggest venue for product launches. And sure enough, the company has introduced many new devices this time around too, but the focus of its announcements have been laptops, PCs, and the likes. No smartphones got official on this occasion, as for tablets so far we've only had one new model quietly being unveiled - the Zenpad 3S 8.0. Or so we thought. It turns out that the Taiwanese company couldn't help launching two additional slates, but in a similarly subdued manner. They are both new Zenpad 10 variations, imaginatively called Z301MFL and Z301ML. They both look the same and share most specs.

Image
The insane 18-core i9 processors in the new Core X series are not everything that Intel has revealed today. The company has also outed an important detail about its upcoming 8th generation Core CPUs for the mainstream. These will become available in the second half of this year, as successors to the currently selling 7th generation Core SKUs. Intel says the next generation chips will perform up to 30% better than the ones out today, at least in some circumstances and for some use cases.

iPhone 7 and 7 Plus cases with built-in fidget spinner now available

Image
While the fidget spinner was invented in the 1990s, the toy has only become a full-on craze this year. Reports about its newfound popularity are everywhere, and the (perhaps controversial) claims about how it can relieve stress and help people with trouble focusing, or those who fidget a lot, have only made it even more desirable for many out there. But what to do if you left the house and forgot your trusty fidget spinner? Well, one company making smartphone cases wants to help relieve such stress-inducing thoughts. How? By attaching a fidget spinner to a case, naturally. And so, the Olixar fidget spinner pattern case was born.

Samsung intros Notebook 9 Pro with built-in S Pen

Image
Today at Computex in Taiwan, Samsung took the wraps off its latest laptop. It's called Notebook 9 Pro, it has a 360-degree hinge that makes it a convertible, and it comes with Samsung's S Pen stylus built-in. The stylus slides into the base of the Notebook 9 Pro, so there isn't a big chance you'll lose it fast (which is what would probably have happened had it not featured its own storage slot). The S Pen has 4,000 levels of pressure and it's able to detect tilt for shading, like Microsoft's new Surface Pen. Samsung's Air Command software for drawing, taking notes, and editing documents is included with the Notebook 9 Pro of course. The S Pen is compatible with Windows Ink.

Both SSD models are based on a Marvell controller and the higher capacities should offer 560MB/s sequential read, 550MB/s sequential write, also 95K/84K IOPS in random read/write. The base 250GB model is a bit slower, though not by much.

First look at LG V30 shows Full Vision display, new color

Image
The LG V30 is the latest phone to fall victim to a leak from China. A total of three shots show what appears to be LG's next phablet flaunting a near-bezzeless Full Vision display and a glossy, mirror finish. Update: It turns out that this is merely a cool looking concept coming from the following video. So unfortunately, nice as it may look, it doesn't bring any new information on the V30.

Image
Andy Rubin, co-founder of Danger and Android, has a new company - Essential. Today, it introduced the PH-1, though we have a feeling most people will call it just the “Essential phone.” It has a unique screen and a unique camera setup, it also flaunts a bit of modularity. The screen is an edge-to-edge “Full Display” with rounded corners, not unsimilar to the Xiaomi Mi Mix. But look at the selfie camera - it cuts into the middle of the notification area!

Render of Xiaomi Mi Note 3 surfaces, shows dual-camera

Image
It would be a bit early for a Xiaomi Mi Note 2 successor to go official but the timing is right for leaks to become more accurate. We got a render depicting the upcoming flagship today and it looks pretty interesting. The render in question shows the Xiaomi Mi Note 3 with a dual-curved front panel, a front-mounted fingerprint scanner and a Mi 6-like dual-camera setup on the back.

Image
The LG G6 has already seen its fair share of deals, despite only being on the market for a few weeks. However, so far most of those offers have come from carriers, at least in the US. But what if you want to grab a G6 for cheap(er), but don't want anything to do with a carrier? Well, today an eBay seller with 99.8% positive feedback has come to your rescue. It's offering the unlocked LG G6 for only $499.99. That's a cool $100 less than what you'd expect to pay for such a handset, but there are quite a few caveats.

ARM announces Cortex-A75, Cortex-A55 and Mali-G72

Image
ARM has taken the wraps off the next generation of its mobile CPU and GPU design. This includes the flagship Cortex-A75 CPU, which will replace the A73 and the Cortex-A55, which will replace the A53. There will also be a new GPU, the Mali-G72. The Cortex-A75 brings 22% additional performance over the A73 when compared at the same frequencies. It also has 33% higher FP and NEON performance and 16% higher memory throughput. In benchmarks, the A75 performs 48% better in Octane and 34% better in Geekbench. A75 is also more efficient than A73, which allows it to run at a higher clock speed while consuming the same amount of power. A75 has also been designed with notebooks in mind, such as Chromebooks and upcoming ARM based Windows machines, and can run at 2W power for even more performance.

Report: Qualcomm talking to LG about Snapdragon 845 and the LG G7

Image
It seems that Qualcomm is talking to everyone about the Snapdragon 845 - first Samsung, now LG too. LG missed the boat on the 835 and had to launch its G6 flagship with the older generation Snapdragon 821 chipset. Now, industry insiders think that LG will catch up and use Snapdragon 845 for the LG G7 next year (the V30 is set to use the S835 instead). It’s not just about the improved power efficiency offered by new manufacturing process.

Samsung Galaxy Note7R pictured, looks just like Note7

Image
A new leak reportedly shows the Samsung Galaxy Note7R in the wild. Consisting of two photos of the device's front and back panel, the leak brings more evidence that Samsung's refurbished Note7 is inching towards availability. The leak holds nothing surprising as we already know what a refurbished Galaxy Note7 will look like. The only change we're expecting is the battery capacity (thus far 3,200mAh seems likely) and the price (duh!).

The feature, known on Nova simply as Dots, was announced yesterday on the Nova Launcher beta Google+ community page. Huawei reveals Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus with dual rear cameras and 20 MP front camera

Sequels to the original Nova and Nova Plus from 2016, the new devices once again come in metal unibodies with almost identical specs: the major differences between them lie in the display size and the battery, with the Plus model having the larger of both.

OnePlus 3T will be available in India until later this year

Image
Yesterday, OnePlus announced the last call for prospective OnePlus 3T buyers to pickup the phone stating that the company has limited units left in its warehouse. Today, the company sent a clarification specific to the Indian market. In this update, OnePlus has clarified that the OnePlus 3T will continue to be available in India until "later this year". Both the 64GB and 128GB variants of the phone will be available through all three official channels, Amazon India, OnePlus online store as well as the OnePlus Experience Store in Bengaluru. We wish the company was more precise than "later this year" but it's still better than asking people to run out and buy now before the warehouses go empty.
