Deal: Sony Xperia X drops to $230 in the US

You could have bought an Xperia XA1 for $240, but how about an Xperia X for $230? Head to B&H Photo (US) in the next half a day if that deal sounds appealing.

Even if you miss the deal, Amazon US has the original X at $250. NewEgg has it at $270, which isn’t that bad considering other stores are asking over $300.



The Xperia X is getting old now (it launched a year ago) and the XA1 is a solid offering. But the X is a premium device and has a better screen (1080p vs. 720p, similar contrast and sunlight legibility), there’s a pair of Cortex-A72 cores for better single-core performance too.


In terms of camera, the headlining feature of the XA1 was the flagship main camera, so those are pretty similar. You do get a better selfie cam with the X, though, a 13MP shooter with a bigger sensor (1/3” vs. 8MP 1/4”).

LG showcases new rollable 65” OLED display

LG Display used CES 2018 in Las Vegas to officially unveil its new OLED displays - one of them being a 65-inch 4K flexible screen that can be rolled like a newspaper. The other is an 88” 8K OLED panel that we told you about last week. The flexibility of the 65” OLED display makes it easier to transport or store in the corner. Its small size allows for better space utilization, meaning you can take the TV anytime, anywhere and “enjoy bright, high-resolution content”. LG Display will also showcase its latest upgrades of the IPS technology. The panels now have IPS nano-color, “which expresses rich colors using nanoscale high-color reproduction particles, and IPS technology, which increases the transmittance and reduces the intensity of light reflected on the panel.”, said the company in a press release. Nintendo announces 2DS XL for $150

Nintendo has dropped a new handheld console, the 2DS XL. The 2DS XL is big step up from the toast-shaped 2DS and is essentially the 3DS XL but without the 3D display. That's really all there is to be said about this. The 2DS XL includes the faster processor, C-stick and NFC reader for Amiibos from the 3DS XL but lacks the 3D display and has a more compact and lighter design. The 2DS XL will still be compatible with all the 3DS games, just that you can't play them in 3D.
