YouTube TV brings you live TV in six US cities for $35 per month

YouTube TV was originally announced back in February, and today it has finally gone live. It's a streaming video service that delivers live TV from major broadcast networks such as ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC, alongside "popular cable networks". The obvious catch? It's US-only of course. The not-so-obvious catch? It's currently only available in Chicago, LA, NYC, Philadelphia, and the San Francisco Bay Area. That's it.


You pay $35 per month for YouTube TV, and that gives you six different accounts for your household. Each of those gets unlimited DVR storage in the cloud, so you'll never run out, and the DVR libraries and recommendations are individual for every account.


It all works through a website for your computer and mobile apps for Android and iOS, as you'd expect. It has Chromecast support so you can watch TV on your TV. What's more, if you start paying for YouTube TV after the first month (which is free), Google will send you a Chromecast at no additional cost. Since that's usually priced at $35, you can say that the first two months of YouTube TV are actually free. Oh, and you can cancel anytime.

If you want Showtime, you'll have to pay $11 more each month, and Fox Soccer Plus costs $15 extra.

Updated Google Contacts app makes it easier to get rid of duplicates

Google is pushing out an updated version of its contacts management app, bringing some of the features available in the web version to the Android app. The v 1.5 update reorganizes the user interface of Google Contacts. Instead of the two tabs – all and favorites – the app now just displays your entire contact list, with a sidebar menu available via the hamburger button on the left. Opening that up reveals a new section for managing duplicate contacts. That’s a feature that was present on the web app of Contacts , but the process was more convoluted on the Android app. You can now also add labels to your contacts, making it easy to organize large contact lists based on groups, for things like family, work, or school. That’s another feature that was present on the web app and it’s now finally making the jump to the Android app, a place where it’s actually more likely to be used. LG showcases new rollable 65” OLED display

LG Display used CES 2018 in Las Vegas to officially unveil its new OLED displays - one of them being a 65-inch 4K flexible screen that can be rolled like a newspaper. The other is an 88” 8K OLED panel that we told you about last week. The flexibility of the 65” OLED display makes it easier to transport or store in the corner. Its small size allows for better space utilization, meaning you can take the TV anytime, anywhere and “enjoy bright, high-resolution content”. LG Display will also showcase its latest upgrades of the IPS technology. The panels now have IPS nano-color, “which expresses rich colors using nanoscale high-color reproduction particles, and IPS technology, which increases the transmittance and reduces the intensity of light reflected on the panel.”, said the company in a press release.
