Samsung Galaxy S8+ prototype with dual rear cameras surfaces in hands-on photos

One of the features that was rumored for the Galaxy S8, or at least the bigger S8+, was a dual rear camera setup. Since these have become incredibly popular among Android phone makers in the past year, it would've made sense for Samsung to jump on that bandwagon. But in the end, as you probably know, it hasn't. That, however, doesn't mean that it didn't test prototypes with that arrangement. Case in point: the two leaked images you can see below are of a Galaxy S8+ variant with dual rear cameras and no fingerprint sensor to be seen anywhere.

So it was probably a prototype employing an under-screen fingerprint scanner too - which means it actually has two things that didn't make it to the final S8+ model.


The design of this unreleased S8+ prototype which surfaced today could serve as an indication of what we are to expect from the Galaxy Note8 coming this fall. It's certain that Samsung will try to make the under-screen fingerprint sensor work, and since it has a few more months to develop it for the Note8, perhaps it will succeed. In the meantime, it can also fine-tune that dual rear camera setup, and these two features would neatly serve as differentiators between the Note8 and the S8+ if they do arrive in the former.

Updated Google Contacts app makes it easier to get rid of duplicates

Google is pushing out an updated version of its contacts management app, bringing some of the features available in the web version to the Android app. The v 1.5 update reorganizes the user interface of Google Contacts. Instead of the two tabs – all and favorites – the app now just displays your entire contact list, with a sidebar menu available via the hamburger button on the left. Opening that up reveals a new section for managing duplicate contacts. That’s a feature that was present on the web app of Contacts , but the process was more convoluted on the Android app. You can now also add labels to your contacts, making it easy to organize large contact lists based on groups, for things like family, work, or school. LG showcases new rollable 65” OLED display

LG Display used CES 2018 in Las Vegas to officially unveil its new OLED displays - one of them being a 65-inch 4K flexible screen that can be rolled like a newspaper. The other is an 88” 8K OLED panel that we told you about last week. The flexibility of the 65” OLED display makes it easier to transport or store in the corner. Its small size allows for better space utilization, meaning you can take the TV anytime, anywhere and “enjoy bright, high-resolution content”. LG Display will also showcase its latest upgrades of the IPS technology.
