Lamborghini is planning an electric model of the Urus SUV concept car
Lamborghini has been planning the release of
its Urus SUV for quite a few years now. First announced in 2012, the vehicle
has gone through multiple iterations, each shown off at various auto shows
since the initial announcement. Now, the Italian sports car manufacturer is
looking to bring this concept into the future, and has revealed that it will be
releasing an electric plug-in variant for the launch of the vehicle in 2018.
The company is breaking more than one barrier
with the release of this vehicle. The car will not only be the first SUV to be
offered by Lamborghini, but also its first electric vehicle. While the car
isn’t 100% electric, it is a step in the right direction towards a more
renewable world.
The company is also apparently working on a
fully electric vehicle to be released sometime in the distant future.
Lamborghini is owned by Volkswagen, who announced that they are planning to
have 30 fully electric models on the market in the next nine years.
The most recent iteration of the Urus SUV was
shown off just recently, and it actually looks quite good. The vehicle is
clearly Lamborghini in design, with sharp edges and curves in all the right
places to give it the aggressive look the company is so famous for.
