Jet Black iPhone 7 scratches easily
One of the new things about the just-unveiled
iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus is the Jet Black color version, never before seen on
an Apple mobile device. This certainly looks the part, employing a high-gloss
finish that stands out from the crowd. Apple boasts that this is achieved
"through a precision nine-step anodization and polishing process".
That's all well and good, but if you intend
to grab a Jet Black iPhone 7 there's one thing you really need to keep in mind
- aside from the fact that you don't get this finish with just 32GB of storage,
you have to splurge for the 128GB or 256GB models.
Here's what Apple has to say about the Jet
Black iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in a notice on its official website:
Its surface is equally as hard as other anodized Apple products;
however, its high shine may show fine micro-abrasions with use. If you are
concerned about this, we suggest you use one of the many cases available to
protect your iPhone.
In other words - expect the Jet Black finish
to scratch. Easily. So as good as it may look, you're going to either have to
live with seeing scratches all over that high-gloss goodness, or simply hide it
away in a case. Neither option sounds ideal, unfortunately.
