Florida man’s Jeep goes up in flames because of Note7

Another case has been documented for the Note7's exploding batteries. Samsung Galaxy Note7 owner Nathan Dornacher lost the family Jeep to a defective Note7 unit.

The St. Petersburg, Florida resident was enjoying his day off this Labor Day. While unloading some recently purchased furniture with his wife and daughter, Nathan left his Note7 charging in the center console. Perhaps not the best place to charge any phone, on a Florida Summer day.

 


The family was only stopping at home to drop off a desk and get back in the car to run more errands. As soon as Nathan looked back at his car, he realized it was on fire. Thankfully St. Petersburg’s Fire Department was able to put the flames out before the flames caught on anything else.

Nathan’s car insurance will cover the cost of the car, but the Jeep owner’s insurance won’t cover the thousands of dollars spent on aftermarket modifications made to his car.

Nathan says he switched from iPhone back when the first Galaxy Note came out and that he’s upgraded to the newest Note every year since then. Now he says he’ll never allow any Samsung product into his house.

As a reminder, if you currently have a Note7 which has been recalled, you should return it as soon as possible. No phone is worth even a tiny risk of it catching fire.

Updated Google Contacts app makes it easier to get rid of duplicates

Google is pushing out an updated version of its contacts management app, bringing some of the features available in the web version to the Android app. The v 1.5 update reorganizes the user interface of Google Contacts. Instead of the two tabs – all and favorites – the app now just displays your entire contact list, with a sidebar menu available via the hamburger button on the left. Opening that up reveals a new section for managing duplicate contacts. That’s a feature that was present on the web app of Contacts , but the process was more convoluted on the Android app. You can now also add labels to your contacts, making it easy to organize large contact lists based on groups, for things like family, work, or school. LG showcases new rollable 65” OLED display

LG Display used CES 2018 in Las Vegas to officially unveil its new OLED displays - one of them being a 65-inch 4K flexible screen that can be rolled like a newspaper. The other is an 88” 8K OLED panel that we told you about last week. The flexibility of the 65” OLED display makes it easier to transport or store in the corner. Its small size allows for better space utilization, meaning you can take the TV anytime, anywhere and “enjoy bright, high-resolution content”. LG Display will also showcase its latest upgrades of the IPS technology.
