Tizen phones coming to Africa

Samsung is planning to bring its Tizen-powered phones to Africa. According to a new report, the upcoming Samsung Z2 will be launched in African countries like South Africa, Nigeria, and Kenya, in addition to some Asian markets including India, Indonesia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh. The launch is expected to happen sometime in October this year.

Z2 will be the first Tizen phone to support 4G LTE as well as remote assistance feature. The report notes that Kenya is upgrading its existing 2G network with an aim to make it 4G capable, while Nigeria is also establishing 4G infrastructure, so it would be relatively easy for the South Korean company to capture the market there.

Finally, the report also says that Samsung also intends to use these African markets as test-beds for its Tizen-based IoT infrastructure.
